International Research Support

International Research Support promotes the international networking and mobility of researchers from all disciplines in Vienna. This program of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is aimed at individuals and covers personal expenses incurred within the framework of international agreements or national measures to strengthen the internationalization of Austrian science. As an open-ended, continuously available direct funding, it primarily finances personnel costs and thus makes an important contribution to the global visibility and excellence of Austrian research. Applications can be submitted at any time via the electronic application portal, thereby supporting the timely planning and implementation of stays, collaborations, and research projects.

The grant enables personnel measures related to travel and remuneration of researchers to involve international cooperation partners or to carry out research stays at renowned institutions abroad. The program is particularly relevant for individuals seeking to advance their scientific careers by expanding global networks. The FWF supports the application process and ensures transparent handling in accordance with the funding guidelines of the Research and Technology Funding Act.
