The Cultural Department of the State of Vorarlberg awards annually five annual and ten semi-annual scholarships of €1,500 per month to professional artists in Vorarlberg. Applications are possible each September, submission deadline 20.11.2025.

Funding objective
Financial support and promotion of creative work processes as well as the (further) development of the artistic work of professional artists in Vorarlberg through six- or twelve-month scholarships.

Funding requirements
- Origin and/or main residence in Vorarlberg (at least two years, registration certificate not older than four weeks)
- Artistic focus in Vorarlberg in the last two years (e.g., exhibitions, performances, presentations)
- Professional freelance artistic/cultural activity in one of the mentioned disciplines
- Work on artistic/cultural concepts (e.g., research phases, development of new formats or artistic further development; excluding school or university training projects and projects already funded elsewhere)
- No additional funding from the Cultural Department of the State of Vorarlberg possible during the scholarship period

Documents required for application
- Fully completed and personally or digitally signed application form (funding application)
- Artistic curriculum vitae
- Justification of the application and description of the project including detailed time and work schedule (max. 2 A4 pages)

Description
As part of the cultural strategy of the state of Vorarlberg, five annual and ten semi-annual scholarships of 1,500 euros per month are awarded each year. The aim is to provide financial security for creative work processes and the (further) development of artistic concepts over a period of six or twelve months. Funded work phases begin from January 2026 and offer professional artists from all disciplines a framework to realize new projects and sustainably strengthen their own work. The funding enables an undisturbed focus on research, the development of new formats, and artistic presentation.
Eligible for funding are freelance artists with origin or residence in Vorarlberg (at least two years) and a demonstrated artistic focus in the region over the past two years. Students at universities and colleges are excluded; parallel funding by the cultural department is not possible during the scholarship period. To apply, a completed application form, artistic CV, project description with timeline and work plan (max. two A4 pages), references/portfolio, and proof of Vorarlberg connection must be submitted. The jury evaluates the relevance of the project to the overall body of work, the sustainability of the project, and the continuity of artistic activity. Applications must be submitted between September 1 and November 20, 2025.
