Description

The program of the North-South Bridges Foundation on behalf of the State of Brandenburg is aimed at young adults between 18 and 27 years old residing in Brandenburg and enables encounters and participation in development policy projects in the Global South. Participants can receive grants for travel and flight costs, visas, vaccinations, accommodation, and insurance. In addition, funds are provided for preparation and follow-up to ensure a thorough engagement with the country and project. Reverse visits by young people from the beneficiary countries to Brandenburg are also explicitly eligible for funding and strengthen intercultural exchange. Up to five participants can be supported per project; trainees in cooperation with the Potsdam Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Potsdam) benefit from additional funding sources and a tandem approach.

Requirements for funding include, among others, proof of residence in Brandenburg, a written commitment from the partner organization in the host country (according to the OECD-DAC list), a stay of three to twelve weeks, and a clearly structured work, learning, and encounter program. Applications can be submitted continuously but must be received at least three months before the start of the trip. The application includes the application form (Word) and a cost and financing plan (Excel). Evaluation is based on the quality of preparation and follow-up, the concreteness of the work and seminar plan, as well as proof of partnership with the host organization. This program promotes direct learning experiences and solidarity engagement for social cohesion and sustainable development.
