Description
The Jörg Vollmar Foundation annually awards the Jörg Vollmar Prize, endowed with €5,000, in memory of Prof. Dr. Jörg F. Vollmar, to honor outstanding contributions in the field of vascular medicine, vascular surgery, and medical historical research. Both scientific manuscripts and exceptional science journalism works published in a peer-reviewed journal are recognized, provided they enrich the discipline sustainably through their innovation and relevance. The award ceremony takes place during the annual meeting of the German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine (DGG), with submissions accepted continuously from across the entire Federal Republic of Germany.
Eligible applicants are doctoral researchers and science journalism authors who can demonstrate first authorship and that their publication is no older than one year at the time of submission. The application must include the following documents: proof of dissertation, curriculum vitae, bibliography, proof of publication in a peer-reviewed journal, and verification of first authorship. Selection is based on the innovative content of the research work and its professional relevance in vascular surgery or medical history. The award aims to promote forward-looking research approaches and strengthen early-career scientists. Interested parties are encouraged to review the respective requirements in a timely manner in connection with the DGG annual meeting and to submit their documents annually.
