Description
The Hanns Seidel Foundation e.V. offers a nationwide, practice-oriented journalistic support program that specifically prepares young talents for the demands of modern media professions through a tri-media supplementary training. The focus is on mandatory academies in the areas of print/online, radio, TV/video, podcast, and social media, complemented by modules on media law, ethics, and journalistic responsibility. The curriculum is further enhanced by two four-week internships – one in an editorial office and a political internship in press offices or parliamentary institutions – as well as active participation in the foundation’s editorial teams and regular submission of journalistic work samples. The program concludes with an independently planned and executed project, coordinated together with experienced mentors and documented with a certificate. Participants benefit from modern studios and a digital production environment at the Kloster Banz Media Center, receive feedback from professionals, and build a robust portfolio.
The funding is aimed at motivated pupils and students who can already present initial work samples or a proven format and demonstrate their motivation in a compelling letter. Applications and supporting documents can be submitted at any time via the online portal. The selection process places decisive importance on the quality of the submitted samples as well as individual commitment. Participants gain insights into professional editorial processes, network with journalists, and lay the foundation for a confident application for a traineeship. This program offers demanding practical experience in all media formats and promotes the development of a sustainable network within the media and cultural scene.
