Anniversary Grant for Fire Departments

The anniversary grant honors the outstanding commitment of the volunteer fire brigades in the Villach district, which have been serving the public for at least 100 years. As a financial token of appreciation, the funding starts with a base amount of €1,000 upon the centennial anniversary and increases annually by €10 whenever the respective anniversary occurs in 10- or 25-year increments. This continuous support strengthens camaraderie and aids in organizing celebratory events that duly recognize the tireless efforts in disaster prevention and the protection of the population.

Eligible for funding are all non-profit associations and interest groups whose fire brigade location is within the Villach district and can verify the 100-year anniversary or subsequent milestone anniversaries. Applications can be submitted at any time, as there is no deadline. The Fire Department, Civil and Disaster Protection division of the City of Villach is responsible for reviewing and disbursing the grants, while the technical review takes place one year before the respective anniversary. This transparent regulation encourages long-term planning security and ensures that voluntary work continues to be publicly recognized and financially supported in the future.
