Description

As part of the statewide thematic year TACHELES 2026, the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony supports smaller art and cultural projects with a Jewish reference in the Free State of Saxony. Private individuals, companies, foundations, educational institutions, associations, and start-ups based or residing in rural areas can submit applications continuously from February 2, 2026. Projects and guest performances that make Jewish life publicly visible and tangible, introduce contemporary perspectives, and strengthen intercultural dialogue are eligible for funding. A prerequisite is that no project measure has yet begun at the time of application and that there is no direct state sponsorship.

Up to 80% of expenses (maximum €10,000) for material and fee costs are eligible for funding for a project duration of up to 12 months. Amounts between €500 and €10,000 can be applied for. Investment measures, construction measures, tourist offers, scientific research projects, sporting events, or projects with predominantly commercial intentions, as well as projects without a clear connection to Jewish culture, are not funded. Selection is based on criteria such as relevance to Jewish culture, target group outreach in rural areas, integration of contemporary perspectives, and promotion of intercultural exchange. Applications must be submitted online and include a project description (1–3 pages), a presentation of the applicants, and information about involved persons or cooperation partners. Associations must additionally submit their statutes and certificate of non-profit status. Each application should be submitted no later than six weeks before the planned project start; approved funds are available until December 1, 2026.
