Description

With the YOUTH HELPS Fund of the Children for a Better World Foundation, young volunteers receive financial start-up assistance for self-initiated projects in the social, political, or ecological fields. Children and young people between the ages of 6 and 21 can directly apply nationwide for grants of up to €2,500. Funding covers fees, travel expenses, allowances for effort and voluntary work, as well as necessary equipment for projects that are predominantly voluntary, independently managed, and based on democratic principles. The jury reviews applications year-round and considers submissions for the accompanying competition until March 15 each year.

To apply, a detailed project description, a financing plan or cost estimate, bank details, and contact information of an adult contact person must be submitted. The fund provides 100% funding and excludes the transfer of funds to third parties as well as FSJ travel and living expenses. Evaluation criteria include initiative, social need, and adherence to democratic principles. In addition to the financial grant, participation in the nationwide competition offers the chance to be invited as one of eight outstanding initiatives to a five-day engagement camp in Berlin. Applications can be submitted online at any time; the competition deadline is annually March 15.
