Description
The Alois Lauer Foundation initiates continuous youth sports promotion in Saarland, focusing on the municipalities of Dillingen/Saar and Nalbach. Educational and youth institutions receive grants for organizing sports tournaments as well as for the procurement of sports equipment. Since 1987, volleyball and swimming competitions have been held annually at secondary schools and rewarded with participation bonuses, which are specifically invested in the equipment of all students. Regional youth sports clubs – including clubs such as DJK “Eintracht” Dillingen e.V. and the Handball Club 1992 Dillingen-Diefflen e.V. – also benefit from funding, which is primarily used for the organization of tournaments. In exceptional pandemic-related situations, the financial resources were allowed to be used flexibly for general youth work.
Expenditures related to the organization of sports tournaments as well as the procurement of sports articles and equipment are eligible for funding. Eligible applicants are educational institutions and youth sports clubs with headquarters or operational areas in Dillingen/Saar or Nalbach. Applications can be submitted informally at any time; no fixed deadline is set. This initiative supports young people at secondary schools and members of youth sports clubs to strengthen sporting activities and promote a sense of community in the long term. The Alois Lauer Foundation thus contributes to active youth work and helps revitalize regional sports.
