Description
The Trust Foundation for Supporting Special Hardship Cases in the Bundeswehr and the Former NVA provides unbureaucratic immediate assistance for Bundeswehr soldiers and former NVA members as well as their family members who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own. Available nationwide, the grant offers financial support in cases of serious illness, accidents, misfortunes, and deaths when state or insurance benefits are insufficient. Applications can be submitted at any time to quickly and purposefully cover living expenses, treatment costs, or funeral expenses and to reimburse travel costs for visitation trips.
Eligibility for funding requires current or former membership in the Bundeswehr or NVA as well as proof of an unforeseen hardship. Applications are submitted using a completed application form with official and private addresses. This includes a data protection consent in accordance with GDPR, a statement from the responsible social service or disciplinary superior, and a form detailing the economic situation. For travel cost reimbursements, the visitation trip form is additionally required; in the event of death, the death certificate must be provided. After reviewing all documents, the foundation decides on the amount of the grant. Through this assistance, it makes a valuable contribution to bridging existential hardships and strengthens solidarity among members of the armed forces.
