Description
The Junge Akademie provides its members with comprehensive financial support to sustainably strengthen academic career paths and research initiatives. Eligible for funding are coaching sessions by professional science advisors, soft skill workshops on team building, conflict management, media training, as well as gender & diversity, and publication subsidies for printing costs or open access fees. In addition, pilot projects in basic research can be realized with funds for literature acquisition, service contracts for data collection, material and service costs, as well as technical equipment. Scientific events – ranging from lectures and outreach activities to workshops in schools – are supported through financing of room rental, technical equipment, event management, travel and accommodation costs, catering, and promotional expenses. Furthermore, the program funds childcare costs directly related to academic activities to ensure the compatibility of career and family.
Applications can be submitted at any time, provided that membership in the Junge Akademie and approval by the Directorate are granted. The content orientation of the Academy as well as the principles of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (legality, economy, efficiency, and frugality) are decisive. The grant covers up to 100% of eligible expenses and can be awarded with a maximum amount of 8,000 euros. Eligible recipients are individuals actively engaged in scientific advancement, leadership roles, or teaching activities. Repayment obligations apply only in the event of premature termination of membership. This permanent funding opportunity offers early-career researchers attractive chances to expand their expertise and effectively advance projects.
