Description
The KfW Student Loan flexibly supports living expenses during studies or doctoral programs at public or state-recognized universities in Germany. With monthly disbursements ranging from €100 to €650, the low-interest loan is available regardless of income and assets. Applications can be submitted at any time, but no later than the 10th semester; to receive payment in the following month, the application must be submitted by the 15th of a month. Eligibility requirements include being of legal age, enrollment at a suitable university, and a maximum age of 44 years at the start of financing. Programs at vocational academies as well as programs completed entirely abroad are excluded. For the application, a valid identification document, a current enrollment certificate, a transcript of records from the 7th semester onward, and identity verification via video are required.
Primarily funded are living expenses and study abroad semesters while maintaining enrollment in Germany. Repayment is variable with semi-annual interest adjustments; from the start of the repayment phase, a fixed interest rate can be agreed upon for up to ten years. Adjustments to the monthly disbursement amount are possible at any time until the 15th of a month. Combining this loan with other funding measures such as BAföG or the education loan is permitted. Processing is paperless through accredited distribution partners of the KfW Banking Group, who handle the online application and promptly initiate the first disbursement.
