Description

The seminar offering “#AI-Challenge” by the wannseeFORUM Foundation in Berlin is aimed at school classes and groups of trainees aged 16 and over who wish to engage in a practical and critical manner with artificial intelligence, algorithms, and the shaping of democratic opinion formation in the digital space. On three five-day sessions (May 18–22, 2026; June 22–26, 2026; and December 7–11, 2026), participants are accompanied in small, interactive workshops by experienced artists and media practitioners. In teams of 8–10 people, they develop their own media products such as films, podcasts, or comics, research backgrounds, and discuss questions of responsibility, fairness, and transparency in the use of AI. The participation fee is €105 per person (full board, accommodation, program). Funding is provided as a 100% grant; applications are accepted continuously until shortly before the seminar begins, as long as places are available.

Funding objective is to strengthen digital and AI-related competencies of young people to enable them to critically reflect on AI, creatively shape it, and confidently participate in democratic processes. Participants train research and teamwork skills, expand their media literacy, and practice digital discussion culture in a protected environment. During the seminar, action-oriented learning and self-directed creation are central: from introducing technical and societal issues, through practical experimentation in small groups, to presenting their own projects to guests. A prerequisite for funding is a minimum age of 16 years and participation as a class or group of trainees or students.
