Description

The Funding Partnership of the Foundation for Science and Democracy will support, starting January 2026 for a duration of 24 months, the biannual Kiel Social Science Review published by Barbara Budrich Verlag. As a nationwide sponsorship initiative, the offer is aimed at non-profit organizations, associations, and interest groups, as well as the editorial team, editors, and authors of the journal, along with the broader social science community and related disciplines. The goal is to sustainably strengthen scholarly debate in sociology, political science, communication studies, philosophy, and law through financial support and to promote interdisciplinary discourse. The funding is provided within the framework of the SW&D’s “Additional Funding Partnerships” and ensures a continuous publication schedule as well as the visibility of current research findings at both national and international levels.

The initiative centers on promoting scientific discussions on social science topics with particular emphasis on democratic principles. All contributions to the Kiel Social Science Review are available not only in print but fully as open-access publications, enabling barrier-free access for researchers and the interested public. Thus, the funding makes an important contribution to enhancing open-access visibility and fosters interdisciplinary exchange. Interested non-profit organizations can now prepare for this two-year partnership and will receive a reliable financial basis for editorial and publishing activities starting with the 2026 project year.
