Kindergarten Projects of the Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation

The Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation supports educational institutions in the Freiburg area with its kindergarten projects that enrich daily routines with musical-creative, athletic, or linguistic activities. The goal is to facilitate the transition to school for preschool children and to promote key competencies through play. Initiatives that go beyond regular childcare operations and offer a varied schedule including music, movement, or targeted language support are funded. The foundation places particular emphasis on needs-based implementation, where educational professionals collaborate with external experts to design the projects and thus create a sustainable learning environment.

Eligible for funding are kindergartens and daycare centers located in Freiburg or the surrounding area that submit a detailed project description including a cost breakdown in their application. Applications can be submitted in writing on an ongoing basis; the board decides on the allocation of grants at least twice a year. Requirements include a convincing concept for musical-creative, athletic, or linguistic offerings as well as a transparent budget plan. Continuous support from the foundation enables institutions to design their programs flexibly and align them with the long-term needs of the children. Through this initiative, the Ida and Otto Chelius Foundation contributes to sustainably strengthening early childhood education in the region and enabling young people to have a successful start to their school routine.
