Description
The KinderHerz Foundation annually honors outstanding research initiatives in pediatric cardiology within the framework of the "Focus Science" program. Nationwide, educational institutions and public organizations can continuously submit innovative projects addressing the diagnosis, therapy, medical technology, and care of children with heart conditions. The award aims to sustainably optimize medical care in Germany’s pediatric heart centers and to realize pioneering research approaches. With funding of up to €100,000 per project, development work is particularly supported when it promises measurable practical benefits for young patients.
This award is targeted at researchers, doctoral candidates, early-career scientists, and nursing professionals working at pediatric heart centers who develop novel concepts to improve the treatment of congenital heart defects. A prerequisite for funding is the submission of a research project at a pediatric heart center in Germany. Selection is based on the level of innovation, the medical benefit for children with heart disease, and practical relevance. In doing so, the KinderHerz Foundation sets an impetus to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation and promote young scientists. The continuous submission period keeps the funding flexible and provides sustainable incentives to continuously advance new ideas in pediatric cardiology.
