Description
The Kindness for Kids Foundation provides nationwide psychosocial immediate assistance for children and adolescents with rare diseases as well as their families, offering valuable support during the often months-long waiting period for outpatient therapy places or the start of inpatient treatment. In individually arranged single or family sessions, the funding covers the full costs for up to five therapy hours with a qualified physician or therapist experienced in psychosomatics, psychodynamics, and trauma therapy. The goal is to alleviate acute burdens early on and ensure a successful transition to further treatment options without the affected individuals and their relatives being further stressed by long waiting times. The provision of these financial resources is granted as a non-repayable subsidy that covers 100% of the incurred counseling costs.
Eligible for funding are exclusively private individuals who provide proof of a rare disease affecting the minor child or adolescent. Applications can be submitted at any time; there is no fixed deadline. Besides proof of diagnosis, only contact via email is required, through which all further steps for the funding application will be coordinated. This low-threshold procedure ensures that psychosocial support begins without bureaucratic obstacles and that the affected families are relieved promptly. Interested families can find detailed information and assistance with the application process on the Kindness for Kids Foundation’s website.
