Description

The Kindsein Foundation supports disadvantaged children and adolescents in Hamburg with the program Kindsein in den Holidays, who so far have had limited access to holiday and leisure activities. Both low-income families and non-profit organizations and schools can apply for subsidies year-round: private individuals receive up to €500 per year, while non-profit organizations and schools receive up to €5,000 annually for the implementation of holiday trips, class excursions, or creative leisure activities. The goal is to enable experiences that combine education, culture, and sports, promote sustainable and inclusive concepts, and strengthen personal development, team spirit, and social integration. The funding covers travel and transportation costs, accommodation, and program expenses and helps create lasting memories in a nature-oriented environment and a communal atmosphere.

Eligible to apply are families residing in Hamburg who provide proof of need (citizen’s allowance, housing benefit, or similar), non-profit organizations with the corresponding exemption notice, as well as schools wishing to support financially disadvantaged students. The application documents include a concrete travel or event plan, a detailed cost breakdown, proof of need or exemption, and a project description for organizations. Selection is based on clearly defined criteria such as educational value, cultural and sporting involvement, sustainability, degree of innovation, creativity, as well as inclusion and social integration. Upon completion of the funded projects, a brief project report and evidence of fund usage must be submitted. Through this structured support, many children receive a valuable break from everyday life, discover new skills, and experience shared moments that sustainably support their development.
