Feature Film Funding by the Film and Media Foundation NRW

The feature film funding program of the Film and Media Foundation NRW supports ambitious feature film projects in North Rhine-Westphalia from the initial idea to the finished work. As an ongoing grant program, it covers all relevant development and production phases: screenplay, project development, production preparation, production, distribution/sales, as well as the realization of graduation films, and additionally offers simplified funding for smaller projects. The goal is to strengthen the creative diversity of the film scene in NRW and to enable innovative contributions to the cultural and media landscape. By combining various funding stages, a sustainable support system is created from the conception and realization phases through to release in cinemas and on digital platforms.

Interested applicants include producers, screenwriters, and film-producing companies that are either based in North Rhine-Westphalia or can demonstrate a significant project connection to the region. A prerequisite for approval is the submission of a feature film project in at least one of the aforementioned phases. The Film and Media Foundation NRW continuously reviews applications and awards grants based on artistic quality, economic viability, and regional networking. Through this targeted support, the program contributes to the long-term promotion of filmmakers in NRW and the sustainable strengthening of regional film production.
