Feature Film – Project Development

The Film and Media Foundation NRW supports innovators and producers with company headquarters in North Rhine-Westphalia in the professional development of new feature film ideas. With a grant of up to 80% of the calculated project development costs (maximum €75,000), expenses for script drafts, cost calculations, and accompanying research are funded. Prerequisites for the application are an initial script draft, a detailed cost calculation, and a personal consultation with a foundation advisor, which must take place no later than one week before the desired submission deadline. Only after a successful consultation is access to the online portal granted, where four annual submission deadlines are available. Upon request, three to five film projects can also be submitted simultaneously as part of a project package.

Through the program, participants receive individual support in developing their film concepts and financial planning. The funding decision is made by the Film Funding Committee, ensuring a transparent and expert selection process. Interested companies can obtain detailed information about submission deadlines and required documents at the service center of the Film and Media Foundation NRW. This initiative offers the opportunity to transform creative ideas into professional scripts and to lay the groundwork for a successful cinema production.
