Film Investment Funding (Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg)

The Cinema Investment Support Program of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg assists operators of small cinemas in Berlin and Brandenburg with measures to modernize, improve, and newly equip their infrastructure. In addition to the FFA cinema funding, up to 30% of the total costs recognized by the FFA, but no more than €60,000, can be granted as a non-repayable subsidy. Eligible to apply are cinema operators based in the media region whose venues have no more than seven screens or, in the case of more than four screens, an average auditorium size of no more than 90 seats. A prerequisite for application is an existing funding approval from the FFA. The Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg handles the disbursement in up to two installments and charges a processing fee of 1% of the funding amount (at least €500 for funding amounts between €10,000 and €50,000). Work on the measure may only commence after approval by Medienboard or after approval of an early start by the FFA or Medienboard.

Applications can be submitted continuously online via the portal. Processing is strictly according to the date of receipt of complete documents. Required documents include the FFA funding approval, a prior consultation with the cinema representatives of Medienboard, as well as all digital application documents in the portal. The funding serves to improve the structure of regional cinema infrastructure and contributes to strengthening the cultural offering in both rural and urban areas. Through targeted investment in barrier-free, energy-efficient, and technology-oriented modernization measures, a future-proof basis for high-quality cinema experiences is created in the joint media region of Berlin-Brandenburg.
