Description

Little People – Big Sounds promotes early musical education in Stuttgart daycare centers through close collaboration with professional musicians. The focus is on practical encounters: instruments are introduced in the daycare centers, insights into instrument makers’ workshops are provided, and rehearsals as well as concert visits with renowned ensembles are organized. The goal is to awaken curiosity and enthusiasm for classical music and to introduce children to musical education playfully at an early stage. The program not only offers exciting listening experiences but also supports educational professionals in embedding musical topics as a fixed component of everyday daycare life. As an ongoing grant funded by the Stuttgart Children’s Foundation, the project is aimed at all institutions located in Stuttgart.

Interested daycare centers in Stuttgart can submit applications continuously – implementation takes place according to availability and individual coordination with the youth welfare office. A formal requirement is proof of the daycare center’s location in the state capital. By providing financial resources as a grant, it is ensured that costs for musicians’ fees, transport to concerts, and workshop visits are covered. The practical design of the course of instruction is based on the needs of the children and the personnel capacities of the institutions. This offering opens young ears to the sound world of great music while simultaneously strengthening cultural education in the early childhood environment.
