Description
“Climate Frogs – Wedel’s Daycare Centers Actively Engaged in Climate Protection” is an ongoing cooperative project between the City of Wedel and the S.O.F. Save Our Future – Environmental Foundation, which supports all daycare centers in the city in firmly integrating key climate protection and sustainability topics into their educational practice. The focus is on age-appropriate participatory activities and didactic materials related to nutrition, waste avoidance, responsible consumption, biodiversity, and mobility. Additionally, target group-specific training sessions provide educational professionals, domestic staff, and caretakers with expert background knowledge as well as practical suggestions to design everyday daycare operations in a resource- and climate-friendly manner. The appreciation and visibility of the commitment within the facilities are enhanced through accompanying public relations work, contributing to the dissemination of best-practice examples within a local network.
All daycare centers in Wedel are eligible for funding and may apply for subsidies for materials and handouts, workshops for professional and management staff, as well as public relations measures. The prerequisite is affiliation with a daycare center within the city of Wedel. The program aims to establish networking structures, continuously deepen sustainable processes, and support participants throughout the entire project duration. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing new initiatives and innovative practical ideas to be funded flexibly. In this way, a vibrant climate education network is established, sustainably strengthening environmental education work in early childhood education.
