Description
With the KlimaTicket Austria, private individuals have access to an innovative annual ticket that offers unlimited travel across Austria on all public and private rail services, urban transport, and transport associations. This solution targets commuters, students, seniors, and families—especially those in rural areas who rely on reliable mobility. The funding aligns with the thematic areas of regional development, climate protection, agriculture & rural development, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection, and provides an important impetus to strengthen public transport as an attractive alternative to private car use.
The annual ticket is granted as a non-repayable subsidy and can be utilized by any private-sector applicant regardless of the application start date. The project duration is 12 months; applications are accepted continuously and are reviewed according to the provisions of Annexes 1 and 4 of the regulation for the introduction of the KlimaTicket. The goal is to sustainably expand rail passenger transport, maintain high customer satisfaction, and thereby make a tangible contribution to the mobility transition and climate protection throughout Austria.
