Description
The Congress Fund for Sustainable Meetings promotes ecological, economic, and social sustainability of professional events in Berlin. The program targets conferences, congresses, seminars, and training sessions with at least 50 in-person participants and a minimum duration of one day with four hours. The base funding amounts to €25 per in-person participant per event day, supplemented by a bonus of €10 for hybrid or decentralized formats (maximum €35 per participant/day), up to a total cap of €99,950 per event. The goal is to strengthen the location as an international congress and science metropolis as well as to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Application deadlines are currently suspended; information about the restart will be communicated on the website of the Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB).
Eligible applicants are organizers who are legal entities under private or public law, legally capable partnerships, as well as self-employed and freelance professionals with headquarters or branches in Germany. The event must be exclusively aimed at a professional audience and achieve at least 300 points in the Sustainable Event Scorecard across four fields of action. Eligible expenses include venue rental, technical equipment, travel costs, personnel expenses, catering, fees, and public relations; trade fairs, retrospective costs, debt settlement, and costs for event agencies are not funded. The application must be submitted before the planned event start, and the event may only commence after receipt of the confirmation of receipt. Furthermore, there is a prohibition on cumulation with other public grants, and a De-minimis declaration must be attached.
