Description
The funding program "Consumer Goods for People with Disabilities" of the Fonds Soziales Wien (FSW) enables private individuals with main residence or habitual abode in Vienna to receive a subsidy for the acquisition of consumer goods, provided these are necessary, suitable, and appropriate to compensate for a specific disability-related disadvantage. The continuously open funding opportunities are aimed at people with disabilities who rely on assistive devices to secure their participation and independence in everyday life. Decisive for approval are the degree of disability, particularly deserving circumstances, as well as the individual necessity and appropriateness of the requested measure. The funding amount is up to €5,000 per five-year period.
The application can be submitted at any time to the FSW Customer Service for Disability Assistance and must include all relevant documentation: medical report or disability pass, income statements for the last three months, official photo ID, registration certificate, proof of citizenship, as well as a cost estimate or invoice with proof of payment. Upon positive decision, the subsidy is paid directly to the applicants. Changes in personal circumstances, income, or housing situation must be reported immediately. A revision audit by FSW staff ensures the proper use of the funds. This provides barrier-free access to essential consumer goods and supports the social rehabilitation of people with disabilities in Vienna.
