Description

The cost subsidy for 24-hour care in Styria supports individuals in need of care who are entitled to care allowance in financing intensive, round-the-clock care organized in the home environment. Private individuals can apply for an unlimited one-time or recurring subsidy from February 11, 2026, to secure care contracts for 24-hour provision. The funding aims to strengthen self-determined care in the familiar living environment and reduce the financial burden on families and close caregivers. The approval process particularly takes into account the existence of legal enforcement obligations as well as usable assets, with gift and transfer contracts potentially being included in the assessment. In justified cases, a land register-based securing of the compensation claim may also be ordered.

To apply, an informal application must be submitted to the competent district administrative authority. Required documents include, among others, an official photo ID, birth certificate, social security number, proof of citizenship or residence permit, marriage or partnership certificate, current income and asset statements, care allowance decision, federal funding approval, as well as placement and care contracts with detailed cost evidence. Evaluation criteria primarily include income and asset statements, proof of care allowance receipt, and existing legal enforcement obligations. With this support, the Styrian state government makes an important contribution to ensuring professional and continuous care in the familiar environment and enables those affected to receive needs-based care despite limited financial resources.
