Description

The funding program Circular Economy and Production Technologies provides grants in Vienna for the development and demonstration of pioneering processes in climate-neutral and resource-efficient production. Eligible applicants are companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions based or operating in Austria, excluding those within the federal administration. Applications can be submitted to the Austrian Research Promotion Agency during the submission period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026. Funding requires secured project financing through a cost, schedule, and financing plan and assesses economic viability without ongoing insolvency proceedings.

With a view to transforming the domestic economy into a climate-neutral circular economy by 2050, the program targets research & innovation, digitalization, energy efficiency, as well as climate and environmental protection. Supported areas include sustainable product design, additive manufacturing, material innovations, bioeconomy (excluding primary production), Industry 4.0 applications, data service ecosystems including digital product passports, as well as recycling and AI technologies. Furthermore, demonstration projects are planned along the focal areas of construction, mobility, plastics, textiles, electronics, information & communication technologies, biomass, or secondary resources. Another focus lies on competence and capacity building through qualification measures, promotion of young talent, and barrier-free knowledge access, taking into account gender and diversity dimensions.
