Artist Residency Willingshausen

The Willingshausen Artist Residency is aimed at students and recent graduates of art colleges and academies from Hesse and Thuringia. In the historic shepherd's house of the Willingshausen artist colony, two emerging artists can work and develop undisturbed for three months each year. In addition to free studio and living space, the fellows receive a monthly allowance as well as an exhibition budget and catalog funding to present their results. The residency culminates in a solo exhibition at the Willingshausen Art Hall, which showcases both contemporary positions and the rich tradition of Europe's oldest artist colony.

This program is funded by the Sparkassen Cultural Foundation Hesse-Thuringia, which takes responsibility for culture and media in the regions. The aim is to encourage young artists to engage with the artist colony and the rural Schwalm region from a modern perspective, thereby setting innovative impulses. The residency, awarded since 1996, strengthens emerging artists through a combination of financial support, professional exhibition opportunities, and a multiperspective catalog.
