Description
Berlin Cultural Funding offers artists living and working in the capital, non-organizationally established collectives, as well as institutions the opportunity to implement non-commercial art and cultural projects in all disciplines. With an annual funding volume of up to 15 million euros, the Senate Department for Culture and Europe supports outstanding individual projects, interdisciplinary initiatives, and cultural education programs. Funding covers, among other things, venue rentals, travel and transport costs, fees, and material expenses. The aim is to promote artistic quality and innovation, stimulate societal discourse, and strengthen Berlin as a vibrant cultural location with national and international appeal. Applicants can find all relevant documents and deadlines in the Culture Administration’s online application center.
A prerequisite for funding is residence and artistic activity in Berlin, as well as proof that the applicant is not enrolled at a university. Only projects that are conceptually convincing, pursue no profit motive, and do not continue already ongoing event series are supported. An independent jury evaluates applications based on artistic quality, social relevance, and innovative approaches. The application must include a detailed project description, a comprehensive financing plan, and a copy of the identity card or registration certificate. Funding decisions are made based on the jury’s recommendations by the joint committee of the federal government and the state of Berlin. This transparent funding practice enables cultural participation and ensures equal access regardless of origin or gender.
