Description

The annual and project funding program “Cultural Initiatives and Centers” is aimed at legal entities active across disciplines in Carinthia that contribute to strengthening the regional cultural life. Funding is provided for annual programs as well as individual projects, festivals, mediation initiatives, and international cultural exchange projects. Both institutions with their own venues and location-independent initiatives—operating year-round or seasonally—can apply for grants covering personnel, material, and operating costs. The Carinthian relevance of the project is decisive and must be convincingly demonstrated through artistic authenticity, innovative content, and socio-political relevance. Applications are submitted online via the KU2 form of the state administration and require adherence to deadlines as well as digital signature. Compliance with the cultural funding guidelines and timely submission before the project start are prerequisites.

In the selection process, qualifications, artistic quality, economic plausibility, and benefits for the cultural diversity of the region play a central role. Funding decisions are made by the Cultural Department of the Carinthian State Government based on expert evaluations. Approved funds must be used for the designated purpose and documented with original receipts. A written activity report documents the implementation, visitor numbers, and impact of the project. Funded initiatives acknowledge the “Land Carinthia Culture” logo and are published in the event database. Annual funding applications must be submitted by October 31 (except museums: October 15); project-specific deadlines can be found on the website of the Office of the Carinthian State Government, Department 14 – Arts and Culture. The program makes an important contribution to interdisciplinary collaboration, linguistic diversity, and the promotion of young talent in Carinthia. Further details on the application procedure and all forms are available at https://portal.ktn.gv.at/Forms/AFS/KU2.
