Description
The funding program Cultural Mediation in Schools is aimed at educational institutions in the federal state of Salzburg (excluding compulsory schools in the city of Salzburg) and supports art and cultural projects as well as cultural excursions at all school levels. The goal is a process-oriented and dialogical mediation, in which external artists contribute cultural impulses and students actively participate in creative processes. Through participatory working methods, independent artistic expressions are to be strengthened and an open, critical approach to art and culture promoted. Fees as well as travel and accommodation costs of the artists and travel expenses of the students are funded with a funding rate of up to 80%. Applications must be submitted at least 14 days before the project start; for funding needs exceeding €2,500, submission deadlines are December 1 and February 20, respectively.
Eligible for funding are all schools in the federal state of Salzburg (excluding compulsory schools in the city of Salzburg). Entrance fees, travel costs within the scope of project days, school weeks or holidays, fees for teachers, as well as purely frontal teaching events are not funded. Allocation is based on criteria such as dialogical character, inclusion of extracurricular impulses, active, creative participation of students, innovation and process orientation, as well as a coherent project objective. The application must include a completed funding request, a balanced financial plan with proof of cost coverage, and a list of other contributors. This grant model enables schools to implement innovative cultural mediation projects that unfold creative potentials and encourage critical reflection. As a pure grant, the program offers needs-based and low-risk financing of cultural initiatives.
