Art Prize for Music, Literature, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts (no submission)

The Grand Art Prize of the State of Salzburg honors outstanding artistic achievements in the disciplines of music, literature, visual arts, and performing arts on a rotating basis with € 15,000. It recognizes the continuous work as well as the overall oeuvre of an artist who has distinguished themselves through special merits and a sustained presence in the Salzburg art scene. As an award of recognition, it emphasizes the importance of artistic excellence within the region and promotes the visibility of the respective field at the state level.

The award is granted continuously without an application process: Salzburg institutions from the respective art sector propose suitable candidates, from whom an independent jury selects the laureates. Eligible are artists with a clear biographical connection to Salzburg—whether by birth, residence, or extended activity on site. Evaluation criteria include contributions to the Salzburg art scene, continuous artistic presence, and the outstanding quality of the overall oeuvre. This prize offers a unique opportunity to honor the artistic careers of Salzburg personalities and to sustainably highlight their achievements.
