Description

In Burgenland, the short-term care program supports individuals in need of care through a temporary stay in a care facility of up to 90 days per calendar year. It facilitates necessary convalescence following hospital stays and ensures professional care during the temporary unavailability of caregiving relatives. The funding is provided as a retrospective subsidy towards the care facility costs and amounts to a maximum of €138.34 per day, paid upon submission of a detailed invoice and corresponding proof of payment.

To apply, proof of short-term care according to § 1 (minimum duration of four days) as well as a discharge letter or a well-founded justification in case of relative unavailability are required. Eligible expenses include only care facility costs in state-approved social institutions or short-term care at home. Applications must be submitted within six months after the end of the short-term care to the Office of the Burgenland Provincial Government, Department 6 – Social Affairs and Health; late applications will only be considered in cases of credibly minor fault. Required documents include, among others, registration certificate, income proofs, the most recent valid care allowance certificate, and, if applicable, care facility contract and medical confirmation in cases of dementia.
