State Childcare Subsidy

In Styria, the regional childcare subsidy supports parents and guardians whose children regularly attend a childcare facility. As a continuously available grant in the areas of social affairs, children and youth, as well as labor & social affairs, it aims to sustainably reduce the financial burdens for crèches, kindergartens, or after-school care centers. The funding measure is continuously open: an application can be submitted within three months after the start of the care arrangement and remains valid as long as the funding requirements are met.

Eligible applicants are private individuals with taxable income and at least one dependent child living in the household. An exclusion criterion applies if a social tiered contribution reimbursement is already received from the facility provider or the employer. For the application, a application form, current proof of income (income tax assessment or payslips), proof of civil status, confirmation from the childcare facility, and a statement of the actual contribution to be paid must be submitted. Submission is made through the responsible municipal office or directly at the facility, which forwards the documents to the Department of Education and Society of the Styrian Provincial Government. This targeted funding strengthens the compatibility of family and work and provides parents with reliable financial relief in everyday life.
