Description

The State Program Economy 2021–2027 – Sustainable Heating Supply Systems promotes innovative investments in Schleswig-Holstein for the construction and expansion of heating and cooling systems based on renewable energies. The program supports projects that advance the technological transformation of heat supply while achieving CO₂ reductions. The funding measure targets public institutions, municipal enterprises, and SMEs that wish to invest in modern generation plants, heat storage, and intelligent district heating/district cooling networks. In addition to a grant covering 40 to 50 percent, the funding covers investment costs for plants, external planning services, and the expansion of supply networks, provided that minimum requirements for equity financing and technical efficiency are met.

The funding prerequisites require that the networks to be developed supply at least ten connected customers and do not exceed a specified maximum temperature of 95°C. Furthermore, the projects must achieve a demonstrable reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional heating and cooling systems. It must be ensured that at least 75 percent of the utilized heat sources consist of renewable energies, waste heat, or a combination thereof. Investment in efficient generation plants – for example, through the use of solar thermal energy, geothermal energy, or industrial waste heat – as well as the establishment of heat storage systems contribute to advancing the regional energy transition. For the application, among other documents, a detailed project description, a financing plan, and comprehensive evidence of CO₂ savings must be submitted.

With this funding, the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment, and Nature sends a strong signal for the sustainable transformation of the energy infrastructure in Schleswig-Holstein. The program offers an innovative incentive to support the shift from fossil fuels to climate-friendly energy sources and to strengthen the regional economy. By promoting the use of modern technologies and the expansion of intelligent heating networks, it significantly contributes to achieving climate targets while simultaneously creating long-term competitive conditions. The continuous application process enables interested applicants to access this funding opportunity flexibly and promptly, thereby making a significant contribution to the regional energy transition.
