Description
The EU-supported funding aims at the sustainable and future-oriented development of rural areas in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Local Action Groups (LAGs) consisting of committed citizens, administration, municipalities, and businesses develop regional development strategies based on a bottom-up approach and independently decide on the support of innovative projects. With funding amounts ranging from €1,000 to €20,000, infrastructure, nature conservation, cooperation, and tourism initiatives are supported that contribute to strengthening innovation capacity, nature and climate protection, as well as revitalizing tourism. Only projects in rural areas that are implemented in cooperation through a LAG and do not pursue a commercial purpose are eligible for funding. The funding rate can be up to 80% of eligible expenses.
To apply, a comprehensive project description, a detailed financing plan, proof of regional anchoring, and a sustainability concept must be submitted. Pure business investments and research projects without a clear regional reference are not eligible for funding. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, sustainability aspects, contribution to the regional development strategy, and the level of networking among the involved actors. Applications can still be submitted until December 31, 2027, with specific deadlines varying depending on the LEADER region. The funding offers local initiative groups a unique opportunity to strengthen the quality of life and economic strength of rural areas with future-proof concepts.
