Description
LEADER funding in Saxony-Anhalt is an EU grant program aimed at strengthening and sustainably developing rural areas in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. It supports exemplary projects in the fields of agriculture & rural development, environmental and climate protection, infrastructure & urban development, energy efficiency, culture & media, sports, as well as regional development and business financing. Eligible applicants include municipalities, local action groups, associations, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, companies, as well as start-ups and private individuals. The goal is to promote sustainable, integrated development processes on site, to strengthen innovation capacity and inter-municipal cooperation, and to revitalize the regional economy. Model projects in village development, tourism, mobility, renewable energies, nature and cultural preservation support a high quality of rural life.
The funding rate is 80%, with a maximum amount of €200,000 per project. Applications can be submitted until December 31, 2027, with project start from February 2023. Eligible expenses include infrastructure investments, personnel and material costs, consulting services, travel expenses, as well as marketing and public relations. Requirements include location within the defined LAG area, prioritization by the responsible Local Action Group, compliance with the local development strategy, and proof of necessary own funds. Application documents required are project description, financing plan, site plan, approval certificates, prioritization letter from the LAG, proof of own funds, and cost estimates. Selection is based on criteria such as strategic alignment, degree of innovation, sustainability, regional value creation, and cross-area cooperation. Public relations and advisory services of the Local Action Groups support applicants throughout the funding process.
