Description

The LEADER region SaarMittehoch8 is applying for the funding period 2023–2027, thereby focusing on an independent, sustainable, and regionally oriented development of the rural area in Saarland. Eight municipalities – Heusweiler, Dillingen, Eppelborn, Illingen, Lebach, Nalbach, Saarwellingen, and Schmelz – are joining forces to implement innovative projects in the fields of regional development, agriculture & rural development, digitalization, environmental/nature conservation, climate protection, and energy efficiency. The goal is to create a future-proof living and working environment that promotes regional identity, tourism, and local recreation as well as village development and public services.

Funding is provided for joint initiatives involving at least two local actors – clubs, interest groups, companies, non-profit organizations, or private individuals – that demonstrate a verifiable connection to the Local Development Strategy (LDS) and are implemented in one of the participating municipalities. A prerequisite is the contribution to sustainable regional development, a high degree of innovation, and realistic feasibility. The evaluation also places emphasis on broad involvement of the local community. Through this grant program, regional initiatives receive a solid foundation to launch forward-looking project ideas aimed at strengthening climate, nature, and quality of life in the LEADER region SaarMittehoch8.
