Description
The "Teaching Abroad" program enables students and graduates of Austrian universities to undertake a teaching stay in the fields of German as a foreign language as well as Austrian literature and regional studies at an international university. A partial scholarship in the form of a direct grant is provided, covering expenses for travel costs, accommodation, and teaching activities. The OeAD-GmbH – Agency for Education and Internationalization – is responsible for the administration and allocates an annual budget of approximately 2.53 million euros for this purpose. The central objective is to establish an internationally competitive higher education and research area and to strengthen academic exchange between Austria and partner universities worldwide. Applications can be submitted continuously, without a fixed deadline, until further notice.
Applications are directed at students and graduates of Austrian universities from all fields of study who can demonstrate excellent academic achievements. Evaluation criteria include academic success, scientific qualifications, and previous professional experience. Prerequisites include enrollment or completion of studies at a state-recognized Austrian university as well as meeting program-specific quality criteria. Awards are granted based on the submitted documents and a professional review by experts. The continuously open call offers applicants maximum flexibility in planning and carrying out their stay. This scholarship contributes to building sustainable cooperations, promoting intercultural competencies, and increasing the international visibility of Austrian teaching.
