Description
The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation supports the nationwide training and further education of prospective and practicing teachers with a special focus on the subject of physics. Through a wide range of its own professional development courses at the Physics Center Bad Honnef as well as through financial support for external offerings, the program contributes to the continuous deepening of subject-specific and didactic competencies. This commitment is complemented by the award of the Physical Society of Berlin, which annually honors outstanding physics educators with the Heinrich-Gustav-Magnus Prize. The foundation calls on student teachers, trainee teachers, and in-service teachers to strengthen their qualifications through innovative formats and networking opportunities and to present zoologically challenging topics in an illustrative manner.
Interested individuals with a subject connection to physics or a scientific teaching subject can submit applications for grants on an ongoing basis. In addition to its own events, the joint program fobi-phi, offered in cooperation with the German Physical Society, provides access to specialized workshops and seminars. Continuous application submission guarantees flexible participation periods and individual focus settings. The initiative is equally aimed at individuals and public institutions, enabling both local school projects and statewide networks to benefit. Through awards, professional development scholarships, and participatory learning formats, the foundation supports the sustainable advancement of science education and creates an environment for future-oriented teaching innovations.
