Description

The Liesel and Gisela Christ Scholarship supports acting students at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) who, in addition to standard German, master a regional dialect or a second native language and express this linguistic diversity in their stage work. The award, announced annually in autumn, is granted as a prize and offers outstanding recipients a monthly financial subsidy over a period of twelve months, with the possibility of extension for an additional year. The aim is to promote multilingual forms of expression on stage and thereby strengthen cultural diversity within Hesse.

Funding is provided to individuals enrolled in an acting program at HfMDK Frankfurt who are proficient in both standard German and a dialect or second native language. Evaluation criteria include linguistic competence and commitment to linguistic diversity in theater. The funds are exclusively intended to cover personal living expenses during the second year of the bachelor's or master's program. Selection is made by an independent jury of the Volkstheater Frankfurt–Liesel Christ, Liesel and Gisela Christ Foundation after reviewing the complete application documents. Applications are accepted each autumn. The funding falls under the areas of culture, education, culture & media, as well as training and further education, and is aimed at practitioners who wish to expand the boundaries of the German stage language.
