Description

The call “Living Labs for the eradication and/or management of invasive alien species” invites companies, public institutions, educational establishments, start-ups, and non-profit organizations from the EU and associated countries to participate in a transnational consortium. The objective is to establish at least three Living Labs in three EU Member States, where researchers, policymakers, practitioners, local communities, farmers, SMEs, and civil society actors collaboratively develop innovative strategies for the prevention, eradication, and management of invasive alien species in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The project thematically covers environmental protection, climate protection, research & innovation, science, and energy efficiency. The funding rate is 100% with a maximum funding amount of EUR 24 million for a project duration of 36 months. Submission opens on 20 April 2027, with a deadline of 22 September 2027 (17:00 Brussels time).

To qualify for funding, a consortium must be formed by at least three independent partners from different Member States or associated countries and conduct an open EU-wide tender in accordance with EU procurement law. For each Living Lab, 10–20 test sites must be established. Eligible costs include personnel expenses, material and equipment costs, travel, and subcontracting services. Retroactive costs are excluded. Evaluation will be based on the excellence of the research project, expected impacts, and implementation efficiency. Required application documents include, among others, the project description, Gantt chart, financing plan, CVs of project leadership, and marketing and communication plan. The complementary interaction of Open Science, fair participation, and gender-sensitive orientation ensures the comprehensive transfer of newly developed solutions into policy and practice.
