Description

The logistics funding program of the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure supports innovative pilot studies and implementation projects in the freight and logistics sector in Vienna and throughout Austria starting in 2024. Eligible applicants include companies of all sizes, educational institutions, research institutions, cooperatives, foundations, public and non-profit organizations, as well as private individuals with headquarters and primary activities in Austria. Eligible for funding are feasibility studies (maximum 1 year) and implementation projects (maximum 3 years) with a clear innovative character in the thematic areas of digitalization, energy and resource efficiency, climate protection, smart cities, infrastructure, and environmental/nature conservation. Personnel costs, material costs, travel expenses, and additional investment costs are eligible for funding. The grant rate ranges from 40% to 70%, depending on the type of project and company size, with a maximum funding amount of €350,000. Prerequisites for application include a mandatory consultation, electronic submission via SCHIG mbH, written consent of involved local authorities, as well as a De-minimis or research institution declaration.

An independent expert panel evaluates each project based on relevance (competitiveness, location attractiveness, sustainability), quality, degree of innovation, and impact potential. The funding aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Austrian logistics service providers, ensure social and ecological sustainability, and expand urban as well as regional location advantages. Continuous submissions are possible until 31.12.2028. Interim and final reports serve to verify project successes and are intended to promote the dissemination of innovative logistics concepts as well as the networking of participants. The funding creates a strong leverage effect for sustainable and forward-looking logistics solutions in Austria.
