Description
The Lohfert Prize of the Christoph Lohfert Foundation annually honors practical and sustainable concepts aimed at improving the quality of care and patient orientation in healthcare. With an endowment of €20,000, the award recognizes innovative approaches that have been implemented in practice for at least six months and have proven to be measurably effective. Eligible to participate are hospitals, healthcare institutions, companies, start-ups, as well as non-profit organizations in the German-speaking region. The application period begins each November and ends on February 28; the ceremonial award presentation takes place in September as part of the Hamburg Healthcare Industry Congress.
In selecting the winner, the interdisciplinary expert jury focuses on the degree of innovation, practical relevance, demonstrable patient-centeredness, and transferability of the results. A complete application includes a structured project description, an abstract (background, objectives, implementation, results, conclusion), and literature or video links as attachments. The Christoph Lohfert Foundation provides 100% of the prize money without imposing any financial burden on the applicants. Model projects are intended to act as multipliers and inspire other institutions to further develop best-practice models. The announcement of the winning project takes place in early summer, allowing for optimal preparation of the concept and networking ahead of the congress event in Hamburg.
