Description
LUChS – Giving Learning and Opportunities is an educational project by the Kinderstiftung Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg that enables children and adolescents to receive tailored learning support regardless of their family situation. In the areas of education as well as vocational training & further education, volunteer mentors provide sustainable assistance through regular meetings with school assignments, catching up on learning deficits, and strengthening personal key competencies. The tandems of volunteers and students are formed after a detailed introductory meeting and are professionally supported by an introductory seminar, themed evenings, and continuous guidance from the volunteer coordination. This creates a long-term structure that equally promotes joy of learning, curiosity, and personal development.
Funding is provided for private individuals who have an interest in voluntary learning support and are willing to participate in an introductory meeting as well as the introductory seminar. Selection is based on the motivation and suitability of the volunteers as well as the outcome of the personal interview. LUChS offers flexible points of engagement: mentors can support individual subjects as needed, conduct learning games, or review learned content together. Through close coordination with schools, the tandems find exactly those children and adolescents who benefit from an individual mentorship. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; thus, every committed person has the chance to give their time and improve sustainable educational opportunities in the region.
