Description
The program “Market Introduction of Innovative Products, Processes, or Services” of the Saxon Development Bank (SAB) supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as start-ups in the Free State of Saxony in the commercial exploitation of technical and non-technical innovations. The goal is to strengthen competitiveness through the market introduction of novel or significantly improved solutions. Projects with an innovative character that have not yet been offered on the market are eligible for funding, including the protection of own R&D results, standardization, certification, and norm-setting measures, as well as obtaining intellectual property rights. The funding also covers external design, marketing, and sales services, prototype adjustments, equipment for pilot series production, and one-time participation in trade fairs. The maximum funding period is 15 months, with total funding up to €200,000 at a funding rate of 40% to 60%, plus a bonus of 10 percentage points for collectively agreed companies or ecologically sustainable projects.
Eligible for funding are SMEs in the commercial sector with headquarters or operations in the Free State of Saxony, as well as members of the liberal professions from crafts, trade, services, culture, and the creative industries. A minimum investment of €5,000 in eligible expenses and a comprehensible market and competition analysis are required. Applications are submitted via the electronic SAB funding portal, where a fully completed application form, a precise project description, a financing plan, and evidence of innovation content and expenses must be provided. Selection criteria include the degree of innovation, market and competitive opportunities, and contribution to sustainability. Combining this program with other SAB funding instruments, such as the market introduction loan or the Sachsenkredit Universal, is possible provided the programs are used complementarily.
