Description
Companies in the processing and marketing sector in Saxony-Anhalt can receive government grants of up to 55% of eligible expenses through the funding program “Market Structure Improvement for Agricultural Products.” The objective is to strengthen competitiveness and sustainably increase resource efficiency—particularly regarding water and energy. Eligible investments include construction measures and technical equipment used for the collection, storage, cooling, sorting, market-oriented preparation, packaging, labeling, processing, and marketing of agricultural raw materials. Eligible applicants are micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) according to the EU definition, as well as producer organizations and associations that are not themselves engaged in agricultural production. A prerequisite is an operational site in Saxony-Anhalt with demonstrable utilization of at least 40% of capacity over five years, as well as a coherent investment concept including proof of economic viability and resource efficiency. Slaughtering investments require a regional needs and environmental analysis or corresponding exemptions by the end of 2024.
Projects must be implemented within 36 months and comply with European and national environmental protection regulations. The decision on the funding amount is based on economic viability, resource efficiency, market orientation, and the regional benefit of the project. Required application documents include the completed application form, the investment concept, evidence of resource savings, existing supply contracts, and, if applicable, the regional analysis for slaughtering projects. Applications can be submitted at any time before the project start to the Saxony-Anhalt State Administration Office. Thus, the program makes a decisive contribution to the modernization and market integration of processing companies in rural areas and promotes sustainable value chains in the long term.
