Measures within the framework of the environmental lottery

The funding program "Measures within the framework of the Environmental Lottery" supports projects in Hesse dedicated to the protection of the environment and natural livelihoods. A variety of measures are funded, such as the stabilization, restoration, and development of habitats, measures for biotope design, ecosystem connectivity, as well as water protection. Financial support is provided as a non-repayable grant from the proceeds of the Hessian Environmental Lottery and is aimed at natural persons, non-profit organizations, and public institutions. The program promotes innovative initiatives that make a significant contribution to the preservation of biological diversity and the sustainable use of resources.

The funding is based on clearly defined criteria and supports expenses such as land acquisition, material costs for the operation or repair of work equipment, as well as fees, planning costs, and expert assessments. Depending on the type of recipient, the grant can amount to up to 70% or 90% of eligible expenses – for natural persons, the maximum funding amount is €5,000 and totals up to €25,000 per project, with a minimum grant of €2,500 ensured. For projects that include measures for the preservation and restoration of biological diversity, it must also be ensured that the relevant species or habitat is listed in the "Hessen List." The funding period is up to 24 months, with all applications to be submitted before the start of the measure.

The program targets committed actors who wish to actively address ecological challenges with their project. In addition to financial support, great importance is placed on professional quality, sustainability aspects, and the connection to the Hessian Biodiversity Strategy. Applicants must submit, along with a detailed project description, an expenditure and financing plan, expert planning statements, and other required documents in their funding application. This structured approach is intended to ensure that only projects that make a sustainable contribution to nature conservation and contribute to the long-term improvement of habitats in Hesse are supported. The funding program thus offers an attractive opportunity to realize environmental initiatives and specifically support innovative approaches in the field of environmental and nature conservation.
