Math for Life

“Math for Life” serves as a nationwide umbrella initiative of the Stiftung Rechnen, bundling diverse projects and collaborations to make mathematics an integral part of everyday life. Educational institutions and non-profit organizations can continuously apply for funding in the field of education and training, which is provided in the form of other grants. The initiative aims to make mathematical relationships transparent in everyday life situations and to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Through partnerships with public broadcasters, publishers, and other stakeholders, interactive formats, competitions, and events are created that highlight the relevance of mathematical skills in work, leisure, and society.

The funding targets a broad audience: from teachers and educational professionals to educational actors and the interested public. Innovative projects such as the DLF cooperation, the ZEIT LEO World Savior competition, or the format “Math in Everyday Life” illustrate how mathematics enriches problem-solving, supports decision-making, and fosters creative processes. As a continuous funding offer, “Math for Life” creates space for new ideas, networking, and experiential learning environments where participants from diverse backgrounds jointly explore mathematical questions. The initiative thus makes a valuable contribution to strengthening everyday competencies and to educational communication in Germany.
